Yellow and Green

Quick update, two more test minis done, this time for the Yellow and Green armies:

The idea is for the Yellows to have the more technologically advanced forces (mechs and tanks etc) and for the Greens to only show up rarely, the idea being to eliminate them before they do it to themselves.

The game that's currently in my head will have some sort of search driven game play with items that can be found as used as weapons in certain circumstances...

It makes sense to me anyway!

Cheers for now!

Post-apocalyptic Blues... and Reds

Yet again, I get sidetracked and another project jumps into my head.

One of the things I find quite entertaining are webcomics.  There are a few brilliant ones out there, dealing with a range of weird and wonderful subjects, from RPG'ing the Star Wars films (Darths & Droids - http://www.darthsanddroids.net/episodes/0001.html) through to dealing with the world in a bizarre post apocalyptic setting (Romantically Apocalyptic - http://romanticallyapocalyptic.com/1).

My personal favourite though, is Gone with the Blastwave (http://www.blastwave-comic.com/index.php?p=comic&nro=1).  Set who knows where, who knows when, it's the story of a band of soldiers fighting in a seemingly never ending war.  It's been going on for so long that they really don't seem to care about it, themselves or anything else.

You know what's coming next.  Feel free to shake me a bit and tell me to concentrate more.  I really should.

So, off I go looking for suitable miniatures, I end up buying some 15mm Command Decision WWII American infantry in greatcoats from Old Glory UK (I think these are true 15's as well, seem smaller than my GZG stuff):

Along with some 20mm laser-cut bases from Minibits (also picked up some dice at the same time...):

Wait for a few days, reasonable shipping and cost from both companies by the way, all of a sudden they both turn up.  Woohoo!

Now I didn't want to have the exact same look to mine that are in the comic, just similar enough that they wouldn't look too out of place (that and the fact I really couldn't be bothered to sculpt gasmasks for 50 15mm minis).

With that in mind, here are the first test minis:

The Blues:

The Reds:

Lastly, the group shot:

Hope you like them, now go check out some of those comics!

Bird Food...

Ahh, summer sales are great.

GZG and Critical Mass Games have very recently had a lovely little sale which has given me an opportunity to select some adversaries for my Harook.

From GZG I picked up two squads of New Israeli miniatures and a few starships, after all the Harook do need to get from planet to planet.

From Critical Mass to support the GZG troops, a squad of ARC Fleet Support Combat Walkers - got to give them a fighting chance!

First up, the first batch of NI Troopers:

Also their space bound forces, some NSL Frankfurt class escort cruisers:

For the Harook I wanted something slightly more avian looking so eventually settled on some ESU Kiang class light cruisers:

I really like the look of these ships, similar to Klingon designs from Star Trek but different enough that I can see them as Harook designed.

I've got one of the CMG Walkers built and undercoated but I'm still deciding on the paint scheme for it, very much doubt I'll have it done before next weekend though.

Thanks for having a look, comments welcome!
